Body awareness and mindfulness

Learning level/s: Foundation year, Years 1 and 2

Focus area/s: Fundamental movement skills, Health benefits of physical activity, Mental health and wellbeing, Rhythmic and expressive movement activities

Description: Each class developed their own stretches and shared them with other classes. They then combined them into a stretch and relaxation sequence. Stretches were developed with an awareness of breathing deeply in and out as they were done.

Measures of success: Students will begin finding new ways to move. They will be able to discuss why moving is essential to keeping your body healthy.
