Understanding how our emotions differ
Learning level/s: Years 5 and 6
Focus area/s: Mental health and wellbeing
Description: Students were invited to consider how their peers may react to events in the classroom and playground differently to themselves. Students created books with a variety of scenarios. Some brought their knowledge of the zones of regulation (from their previous years/learnings) to this activity to explore how an event could lead to a different outcome/range of emotions for different individuals.
Measures of success: Students were able to employ strategies and insight in their daily activities in the classroom and out in the playground. Students could recognise differences in one another and be more tolerant in the range of behaviours and emotions their peers may exhibit in the classroom or playground.
