Lunch box blitz
Learning level/s: Years 3 and 4
Focus area/s: Food and nutrition
Description: Students learnt about health eating and explored the Australian Guide to Health Eating – the new ‘food pyramid’. They brainstormed ‘healthy’ and ‘unhealthy’ foods before pairing up and designing their own ideal healthy lunchbox using drawing and 3D techniques. They then created posters to explain to others the importance of having a healthy lunchbox.
Measures of success: Students will be able to identify, practice and describe healthy eating strategies; they will be able to discuss and interpret health information and messages from different sources; they will use their knowledge to describe strategies for a healthy classroom environment.
