Mindful mandala
Learning level/s: Years 5 and 6
Focus area/s: Mental health and wellbeing
Description: Individual creative projects for mental wellbeing. Students created individual mandalas with self-selected materials. Students designed their own mandala using materials and colours that were meaningful to them. They wrote about what was in their mandala, and why they chose their materials and design. They reflected on how the process of making the mandala made them feel and how it related to being mindful for them.
Measures of success: Task completion, student participation and enjoyment and student’s ability to use symbolism to explore different aspects of their identities and mindfulness. Participation in project and use of end product for having mindful time alone and sharing with other classes.
