HealthLit4Kids

Supporting schools to develop new approaches to learning and health for the benefit of children, their families and communities.

Research shows that we do most of our learning about how to be ‘healthy’ with our family, our community and during our school years. This means that quality health education in primary schools is essential for healthy learners and healthy communities.

HealthLit4Kids supports primary schools to build the health literacy of staff and students, and to develop a culture where the health literacy needs of the whole school community are identified and supported.

With a whole-of-school approach, HealthLit4Kids:

  • supports schools to develop an environment that responds to health literacy needs
  • develops teacher confidence and competence to deliver health education
  • provides students with a voice in their own health literacy development
  • encourages the sharing of health learning with the wider community.

HealthLit4Kids activities are easily embedded into the school calendar, easily becoming business as usual.
